TSA: Looking For Bad Things, Not Bad People, Adfero Group Homeland Security Services

November 16, 2010 - by Kevin McCarthy

In watching the news stories, one has to wonder if the TSA is doing Security Theater or do they really believe they are protecting our nation.

The basic flaw I see with today’s screening system is that we are looking for bad things instead of bad people. Our focus is on many inanimate objects, which in and of themselves are not likely to pose a threat to airliners. The terrorists of 9/11 did not carry any banned items onto their flights. In fact, the only illegal thing they carried was the intent to do grave bodily harm. Read more….

July 22, 2010 - by Kevin McCarthy

The piracy question and how to deal with it is huge and is about to become a much larger question in the global supply-chain management continuum. I, like other folks, would like nothing more then to send in the Marines and clean out the nest of pirates. But alas, the days of gunboat diplomacy are of a bygone era. Read more….

Moore’s Law and Whole Body Imaging: Moving Technology to the Next Level, Adfero Group Homeland Security Services

January 12, 2010 - by Kevin McCarthy

The news cycles, talking heads and many elected officials seem to be in a bit of a tizzy over the images created Whole Body Imaging (WBI) systems. Current technology produces a de-identified raw data image of the human form with items of concern as they appear. The technology will only be of value, however, if it is deployed and used to its maximum capability. Read more....

Resilience starts in the community, Adfero Group Homeland Security Services

March 13th, 2009 - by Kevin McCarthy

National resilience is truly a community effort. I split my time between an office in DC and a home in the mountains of Utah, and one of the most important messages that Washington needs to learn these days is that resiliency begins at home.
